Hi friends! It’s me, Oliver the Otter — the playful mascot of Waterway Warriors and your fuzzy Chief Splash Officer! I pop in throughout the year to share updates, cheer on our volunteers, and remind everyone why protecting our waterways matters. Today, I’m here with a special Giving TuesWeek message!
This is the week when kindness makes the biggest waves! The holidays are a season of giving, which makes this the perfect time to consider the Earth itself a recipient. By supporting cleaner waterways, you help keep our rivers safe and sparkling for otters like me, along with our dolphin, manatee, fish, and bird friends who need a little extra love, too!

Why Your Gift Matters
Waterway Warriors volunteers work tirelessly all year to protect the Indian River Lagoon, the Banana River, and the fragile habitats that surround them. Your gift directly fuels efforts like:
- Pulling trash from causeways and shorelines before it enters the water
- Keeping Barrel Bins emptied, preventing litter from blowing into storm drains
- Removing dangerous debris that harms wildlife and degrades water quality
- Protecting dolphins, manatees, birds, and fish from entanglement hazards
- Maintaining adopted roadways and critical waterfront areas to reduce long-term pollution
- Responding quickly to high-risk zones where trash accumulates and threatens wildlife
- Educating communities and volunteers about environmental stewardship, marine safety, and sustainable habits
Your support ensures that volunteers have the gloves, grabbers, trash bags, equipment, and disposal resources needed to take immediate action. It also helps us expand our programs, reach more problem areas, and build a cleaner, safer environment for everyone — humans and wildlife alike.
But we can’t do it alone — and your Giving TuesWeek support keeps our mission going strong.

Even $1 a Day Makes an Impact
Your gift helps fund cleanup supplies, debris removal, and programs that protect the Indian River Lagoon and Banana River. Every dollar helps create a safer, cleaner home for all of us who call these waters home. Remember, a single donation of $30 PREVENTS 60 POUNDS of trash from entering the rivers!
