what we do

education & awareness

Community education and awareness are crucial to our mission. By joining community festivals and events, we can inform everyone about the harmful effects of waterway trash on aquatic vegetation and marine life.

Seeing the problem firsthand often inspires people to get involved. Plus, these events are a great way to showcase the monthly opportunities for concerned citizens to help improve our waterways.

Awareness Campaigns for Children under 12

For safety reasons, the Florida Department of Transportation's Adopt a Highway Program doesn't allow kids under 12 to join group Cleanup events. But we know how important it is to educate kids early, so the Waterway Warriors have created campaigns to get local youth involved in tackling waterway trash. We organize drawing contests and school or neighborhood Cleanup events to raise awareness and show kids that every piece of trash picked up makes a big difference. Our goal is to instill this mindset in them, so they value the environment and pass it on to future generations.
