Gator Dredging - Waterway Warrior Generous Partner
A Huge Thank You to Gator Dredging for Donating to the Tire Island Cleanup!
The Waterway Warriors want to extend a massive thank you to Gator Dredging for their incredible generosity in donating their boat, captain, and deckhands to support our Tire Island cleanup! Without their help, those abandoned tires would still be sitting in the Indian River Lagoon, polluting the water and harming marine life.
Tire Island—an unfortunate dumping ground of old tires—has been an environmental eyesore and a hazard to the health of the lagoon. While our volunteers were ready to tackle the challenge, we faced a big problem: we had no way to transport 100+ tires out of the water for proper storage and disposal. That’s where Gator Dredging stepped in, providing the equipment and expertise we desperately needed.
Gator Dredging has been doing vital work in the Indian River Lagoon as part of the Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) projects, removing muck—rotted algae, grass clippings, and silt—that fuels algae blooms and destroys seagrass beds. Their donation to the Waterway Warriors cleanup goes above and beyond, showing their deep commitment to restoring the lagoon’s health.
Without their boat, their skilled captain, and their hardworking deckhands, the tires would still be there. Thanks to Gator Dredging, they’re outta'there!!
We are beyond grateful for their support and partnership. Thank you, Gator Dredging, for being true champions of the Indian River Lagoon!
