In an incredible team effort, 50 volunteers joined forces with Xplore The IRL, Gator Dredging, Brevard Mosquito Control, Cocoa Beach Public Works, SOIRL and local community members to haul 321 tires off “Tire Island”—a remote spot in the Banana River that’s only accessible by boat. While we didn’t get every last tire this time, it was a huge step forward in restoring the health of the river. The good news? We’re not done yet—we’ll be back to finish the job and make sure every tire is gone for good!
