Tales from the Riverbank: An Otter’s Plea for Cleaner Waters
Hello there, humans! My name’s Oliver the Otter, and I live in the winding waterways. Life here should be perfect—plenty of fish to catch, cozy burrows along the riverbank, and endless fun rolling in the mud. But lately, things have taken a turn for the worse.
Life in our river used to be otterly amazing—fish feasts, mud baths, and epic belly slides. But now? Trash is everywhere. My little brother mistook a chip bag for a fish (bad idea), turtles are stuck in plastic rings, and the water smells worse than Uncle Otis after "No-Bath November."
It’s not just us otters—our turtle friends are getting caught in plastic rings, manatees are swallowing plastic, and even the fish we rely on are disappearing. Our home is at risk, and we’re running out of safe places to swim, play, and raise our families.
But there’s hope! We heard about these incredible humans called Waterway Warriors, and let me tell you, they’re the heroes we need. They clean up the mess, pull trash from the water, and make sure fewer harmful things end up where they shouldn’t. If more humans join in, we can have our clean river back—a place where otter pups can play without dodging soda cans and where fish can swim without plastic in their bellies.
So, I’m asking you—will you join the fight and become a Waterway Warrior? My family, my friends, and the entire river community are counting on you. Help us turn the tide and keep our waters wild, clean, and full of life!
See you on the river (hopefully without the garbage),
Oliver the Otter
